It is once again the eve of our annual Bridal Bazaar. A lot of hard work and dedication has gone into planning and executing this show. This year's Bazaar will take place at The Waterside Inn - a charming property nestled by the water in South Mississauga.
Here's a sneak peek at some of the vendors you will have the pleasure of meeting. …Continue

This Christmas, I felt inspired to make a part of the gift I would be giving to my co-workers. I saw a blog post a while ago about making homemade vanilla extract. I figured I'd give it a go. After eyeing the final product, I decided this gift could also make an easy and affordable wedding favour.
The key to this project is bottling the extract months in advance as the vanilla will be more dark and flavourful with age. Think at least 8 weeks.

"I think people are ready for a new trend" says Ashley Jacot De Boinod, owner of Glory Hole Doughnuts, located on Queen West in Toronto. Ashley is referring to the heroic comeback of the doughnut - the newest trend in wedding indulgence.
Now I must say, I have never been a fan of the beloved fried and glazed ring. I chalk it up to the motion sickness I would experience during childhood trips to Sudbury and my father insisting…Continue

Once the ceremony has ended and hundreds of pictures have been snapped, it's time to get down and celebrate with your guests. Many brides consider a wardrobe change for the reception in order to make dancing the funky chicken a lot more comfortable (if it ever can be). Here are some of my picks for fun and affordable little white dresses. …Continue

Rachelle and Mike met standing in line for a concert. Both being of the talkative nature, a conversation was sparked easily. By the end of the evening, the two had exchanged numbers and soon enough a fast and furious love was ignited. They dated for four years before Mike popped the question at a restaurant in front of Rachelle's family. Their relationship has been as easy as breathing by sharing interests and rarely fighting. Mike still remembers exactly what his future bride was wearing…Continue

The official change of season is upon us. And although I will miss the hot and hazy days of summer, fall is one of the best times of year. Maybe it's the large quantities of turkey, or getting free candy while in costume, or maybe it's my birthday...I really don't know. What I do know is that it is a popular month for couples to get hitched - the weather is just right and the fall foliage makes for some stunning pictures. 'Tis also the season of the pumpkin, which happens to be my favourite…Continue

It was a monumental summer for the girls here at Confessions of a Thrifty Bride. We decided it would be logical and fun for us to attempt a foray into the bridal show biz. True to the nature of three ambitious ladies, we thought "hey, why do one show when you can tackle three?"
And so began a whirlwind of a summer filled with more plotting and managing than pina coladas and martinis. We rarely seemed to take a breather without a new chaotic situation presenting itself…Continue
Today marks the start of the annual Toronto International Film Festival where city slickers and suburbanites gather 'round the big screen to take in a cinematic feast and, quite possibly, some star sightings. Toronto's acclaimed Hair on the Avenue ushered in the start of the festival by releasing a short film of their own called Anastasti.
Shot by Canada’s…Continue

I would like to believe I'm not the only one who occasionally veges on a Friday night watching episodes of Say Yes to the Dress. However, one can only stand to watch $6,500 price tags twirling in front of high-end mirrors for so long.
Enter TLC's newest bridal series, I Found the Gown, set in VOWS, a designer bridal outlet in Boston, and the ultimate dress destination for the bargain-hunting bride. Owners Leslie and Rick DeAngelo dig through factory…Continue

Brides feel a lot of pressure to make everyone happy and are willing to spend whatever it takes (about $30,000 these days) to make their wedding perfect. Many couples go into debt (on average about $25,000 worth!) to pay for their weddings, so it is not surprising that ConsumerAffairs.com reported that 80 percent of…Continue

On Sunday July 22nd, the team at Confessions of a Thrifty Bride hosted the first of three Bridal Bazaars set to take place this summer. Bright and early that morning, we rose from our wine-induced slumber and made our way, music pumping and butterflies-a-flutter, to the site of our first solo event. Vendors slowly began to trickle in to The Assembly Hall to garnish their tables with everything from favours and florals to shoes and cosmetics. We armed ourselves with Thrifty Cards and Ring…Continue

If you’re anything like me, you’re clueless to makeup application. I once tried to teach myself the “smokey eye” technique from a YouTube video and ended up looking like that scary chick from The Craft – not pretty! But wedding day makeup is important not only because you want to look as beautiful as you feel, but the pictures will last far beyond your special day.…Continue
