A recent poll on an online dating site in the UK indicated that one in ten women have proposed to their boyfriends - a concept unheard of only a couple of decades ago! This trend is new to North America, as men in other countries have long embraced the ring. Irish women use the leap year tradition originating hundreds of years ago to propose to their gents and in South America both men and women wear engagement rings on their right hand until wed.
